Biography

Dr. Dorothy Businge Kakongoro Kabugo has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of St. Peter’s University, effective September 1, 2024. With a remarkable career in academia and leadership, Dr. Dorothy brings a wealth of experience from her previous roles at Great Lakes Regional University (GLRU) and Nkumba University (NU).

Professional Experience

Dr. Dorothy’s extensive experience encompasses various significant contributions, including:

• Leadership Roles:
  Spearheaded the application for a Charter at GLRU and served as Ex-Officio to the University Council, preparing essential policy documentation for discussions.
• Performance Reporting:
  Developed and managed institutional periodic performance reports for the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), University Directors, Board of Trustees, and the University Council.
• Academic Management:
  Oversaw student academic matters, including enrollment, academic pursuits, and examination management at both NU and GLRU.
• Policy Development:
  Actively participated in creating various academic policies and supervised the review of undergraduate programs at GLRU and NU.
• Committee Leadership:
  Chaired the University Management Committee, Senate, Finance Sub-Committee, and general staff meetings at GLRU.

Personal Life

Dr. Dorothy is married and a mother to adult children. Her commitment to education and community engagement is complemented by her vision for fostering collaboration and innovation at St. Peter’s University.
